How gardening can improve your wellbeing

If you’ve worked on your garden, throughout the recent lockdown and are curious about how gardening on a daily basis can significantly improve your wellbeing, you’ve come to the right place. Simply continue reading to discover some of the benefits of spending time in your garden. Which may convince you to continue gardening, once the world has gone back to normal.

Gardening can help you enjoy a great night’s sleep:

If you regularly suffer from insomnia, you’re in luck. As recent scientific studies have shown that individuals who garden frequently, fall asleep faster and enjoy better quality sleep, than the average individual.

Gardening can improve your balance:

As gardening involves standing, crouching and kneeling for prolonged amounts of time, gardening can also help you improve your core strength and your balance.

Gardening can help you become a more positive, mindful individual:

Another reason why it’s well worth taking up gardening is that spending time outdoors in nature gardening, can help you become a more positive, mindful individual. As not only will you start to feel at one with nature but you’ll also get to witness small miracles such as seeing a new plant which you planted blooming for the first time. Sometimes, you need to just stop and smell the roses, in order to rethink your perspectives on life.

Gardening can decrease your stress levels:

If you often feel stressed out or anxious, you’ll also find that the simple act of gardening can also help you dramatically decrease your stress levels. As by focusing on simple, pleasurable tasks, you’ll temporarily forget about the trials and tribulations of your everyday life. Which is a great reason to spend an hour gardening per day.

You’ll be able to eat freshly grown produce:

Another key advantage of gardening is that you’ll be able to create your own vegetable garden. Imagine how much healthier your diet will be, if you frequently consume fresh, pesticide free organic produce from your very own vegetable garden. Especially as vegetables are superfoods which are jam packed with nutrients and vitamins. You, however, are not the only who will seek to dine on this organic delicacy, that’s right, animals and wildlife will as well. Thus, ensure you install garden fencing to keep your vegetable garden safe and sound.

You can add new herbs and spices to your meals:

You’ll also be able to add a bit of spice to your meals. As you’ll be able to grow a wide variety of herbs and spices as well as vegetables and fruit.

You can brighten up your home with fresh flowers:

You’ll be surprised at just how quickly your mood will change if you walk into your bedroom, lounge, home office or kitchen and see a vase of fresh flowers infant of you. So if you’d like to inject a little added joy and beauty to your life, it’s definitely worth picking fresh flowers to display around your house.

So if you’ve been stuck at home due to lockdown for weeks on end, it’s well worth getting some fresh air and spending a few sunny afternoons in your garden. Especially if you’d like to sleep better and would like to decrease your stress levels and to add a little joy to your life.
