31 Days of Halloween - Head Waiter

Fun and creepy... this is what Halloween is all about.

I saw this on Martha Stewart's website.  Anything Martha does is super in my book.  I went out and got a foam head (at Hobby Lobby with a 50% coupon!) and some gauze, which is really all you need for this project.

I didn't want the gauze to be bright white, I wanted my head waiter to have an aged look... this can be accomplished with some fabric dye, but I didn't have any so I watered down some acrylic paint.  Worked like a charm.

I dipped my gauze into the paint...

Then I wrung it out gently and hung it to dry.

After they dried, I cut them in half lengthways... I didn't like how wide they were.

Aged.  You've gotta love paint.

Then, I stuck my head onto a tiered stand, without the top tiers.  That made absolutely no sense and I have to be OK with it.

I started wrapping the gauze.  I didn't even need any glue or anything because gauze sticks to itself.  Amazing.

I wrapped until I was happy with it.  And man, was I happy with it.

It's a head on a serving tray.  Creepy.  And to add to the creepiness, I added large googly eyes.

Its eyes follow you, no matter where you are in the room.  Awesome.
